Brick Street Burgers Prepares for Grand Opening, Hosts Preview
The new diner-style addition to MC's campus dining options hosted its first customers on Tuesday.
Brick Street Burgers is set to make its long awaited on-campus arrival. The restaurant is opening at a prime location, the corner of Madison and Jefferson Street, on the north edge of campus.

The idea to open a new restaurant in that exact location had been suggested for several years.
“They've been trying to open something up, but it never lasts down there,” said Tiffany Magee, a member of the MMI dining staff and a cook for the new restaurant. “Campus was in high demand, so they probably made it [the decision] about a year ago.”
To indicate the fast-approaching opening, dining staff hung a branded banner in the foyer of the Caf. This advertisement was placed during the first week of the spring semester. As the opening date grew closer, efforts to advertise grew. Three days before the store’s opening, Magee was seen with several other restaurant staff handing out branded cups and shirts to students in the lower commons.
Although the burger joint is not yet open to the public, the restaurant hosted an invitation-only opening on Tuesday. It was here that MC faculty, staff, and other members of the Clinton community had their first bite from the city’s newest restaurant. Bretton Crosby, an audio and visual production manager at Mississippi College, was in attendance.
“It's good,” Crosby said. “My understanding is that the milkshakes are really good. Big fan of the fries. It's very messy, in a good way.”
Other faculty members were also quick to compliment the food. Ben VanHorn, a reference and instruction librarian praised the milkshake, and Mignon Kucia, another Communication professor said, “The vanilla milkshake is amazing, and the burger is great.”

Beyond the burger and fries, there was much enthusiasm for the restaurant location.
“We are excited to have something on this side of campus, because a lot of us work in Aven,” said Beth Everett, an Assistant Professor and the Director of Choral Activities for the Department of Music. Excitement for the restaurant's opening stemmed beyond the MC community as dinners remarked on what this meant for the city. “It's good to have this place being used further just in the city of Clinton we need places to eat,” Crosby said.
The building itself, while small, has a simple vintage charm. A neon logo mark is fixed against the sleek metallic wall behind the front counter wall. In the dining room, the limited seating is accompanied with low hanging pendant lamps. The two exterior walls which enclose the dining room allow for plenty of light during the day. Staying true to the brand of MC, the interior is painted in navy blue and golden-yellow. Restaurant staff looked forward to opening the dining room, describing it as a casual and relaxing spot that is inviting and good for conversation.
Brick Street Burgers will open to students and the public on Monday, February 3 at 11:00 a.m. As a part of campus dining, Brick Street Burgers will accept student meal points and bonus points as a form of payment.
