New Women's Ministry Forms on Campus
Delight chapters are recognized organizations, student-led, and rooted in Scripture-based curriculum and resources.
Megan Collins, a senior at Mississippi College, got the idea of starting a ministry on campus for college-aged women to gather together and form a community. She felt there was something that could be added to have women come together and fellowship and dive into scripture. She soon found out about Delight Ministries and took some time to figure out the process of getting one started on MC’s campus.
“I filled out the interest form on their website and then began the process of starting the ministry on campus,” Collins said. “It hasn’t been easy, but it’s been so rewarding seeing girls excited about having somewhere to go to find a sweet community that isn’t divided by major, tribe, church, or class.”
Delight is an organization that provides community on many college campuses. Delight chapters are recognized student-led meetings. The lead team is given resources to share scripture with the girls, putting time into coming and being a part of the ministry.
There are different aspects to each chapter. They are all unique in their sense. They all can use the resources provided and grow from there. Each chapter is given a curriculum to go through with the group.
The lead team of MC’s Delight chapter has a lot of events planned. Not only will they meet on Thursday for fellowship, but they will also have opportunities to go out into the community and be the hands and feet of Jesus.
“The goal for the community service projects for MC Delight is to challenge, equip, and grow them spiritually, and to develop a desire to serve just as Christ served us,” Collins said. “We will go out and meet some tangible needs of those around us but we’ll also bear the burdens of those hurting around us, while ultimately placing the burden into the hands of the Father.”
Each week on Thursday evening, women from MC’s campus will come together and be one body of believers. The idea of being separated by tribes, majors, or classifications will be gone. The time is going to be spent loving each other well. The leadership team wants each girl to feel seen and loved during their time at MC.
Ann Lamar Jeffcoat, a junior, is excited for the semester to get started. “Delight starting on campus is definitely an answered prayer,” Jeffcoat said. “I’m excited that Delight is going to be a space for girls to come together as sisters in Christ and press into the Holy Spirit. A place to ask the hard questions and learn more about His heart towards us as His daughters! Super excited for all that is to come.”
