Swerve 2026 | Student Reactions

MC students react to the iconic campus production.

Swerve, one of Mississippi College’s most anticipated student events, wrapped up its 2026 production. Fifteen teams competed, and the show ran twice over two nights.

The first showing was open to students and delivered a lively, high-energy atmosphere from start to finish.

“I’m expecting a lot of energy, a lot of hype, and just a lot of excitement tonight,” MC student Vanessa Geske said ahead of opening night.

Students also voted for a crowd favorite, which was announced alongside the other awards Friday night.

“I’m just excited to see how all the shows come together and all the hard work that [the teams] have been putting in,” student productions crew member Grace Ann Melton said.

This year’s production featured several new groups, collaborations and independent teams. Civiguna, a joint team formed by members of the Laguna Social Tribe and the Civitan Men’s Club, performed “The Nutcracker,” earning first place overall.

Kissimee Social Tribe finished second overall for its cinematic performance of “The Phantom of the Opera.” The tribe was also voted a crowd favorite for the Friday night performance.

Returning to the stage was New Kids on the Block, a well-known independent team with a history of podium finishes. The group placed third overall with its performance of “The Muppets.”
