It’s the end of an era for campus ministry Reformed University Fellowship (RUF). Both Campus Minister Jeff Jordan and RUF staff member Anne Michal Carter will be finishing their ministries at MC at the end of the semester.
Jordan has been minstering to students on campus through RUF for the last 13 years. He has preached every Monday night during the fall and spring semesters at RUF Large Groups. Throughout the week, he plans events, including coordinating Bible studies as well as conference and mission trips. He makes himself available to meet with and counsel students.
It was those moments that he shared with students that Jordan says he will remember the most fondly from his time here on campus.
“I feel like I came to do ministry, but really have been ministered to so much more than anything I brought to bear,” Jordan said.
Jordan says that his ministry at MC has prepared him for his next role as an assistant pastor at Madison Heights Church.
“I felt like MC has sort of been like a playground that I’ve got to enjoy, experience, and be challenged by,” Jordan said. “I’ve seen so much through the professors and friends who work here. They are such living examples of faith, perseverance, and godliness. I take that with me.”
Carter’s ministry was focused on mentoring female students, whose faith she will leave inspired by.
“MC was definitely the place the Lord wanted me to go, and I can see so evidently the work he’s doing here at MC,” Carter said. “I am just really encouraged by what I see in the students’ lives here.”
Carter will continue at RUF, but on a different campus — one that is special to her and her husband.
“RUF has given him the call to be the next campus minister associate for the first year until he finishes seminary at Texas A&M,” Carter said. “That is where we both went to school and both met through RUF. I will do what I did at MC, but I will be doing that now with him at Texas A&M University.”
Jordan and Carter will remain with the ministry until the end of the semester. A new RUF staff will take over starting in the fall.
