Caterpillar Parade Honors Retiring Mayor & First Lady

Last Saturday, Clinton hosted a beloved tradition and bid a bittersweet farewell.

On Saturday, April 12, Clinton hosted its annual Caterpillar Parade. This year’s parade was a bittersweet one for the Clinton community, as it will be the last one for Mayor Phil Fisher.

The Mayor and his wife received special honors at the Parade. First Lady Kathy Fisher was crowned the Caterpillar Queen and expressed appreciation for the event.

“It’s such a blessing,” Kathy Fisher said. “We live in Olde Towne. It’s a very special place. Tara Lytal does Main Street, which does the Caterpillar Parade. It’s a lot of fun.”

Phil Fisher has been the mayor since the parade began. Now, he finally gets a chance to become its Grand Marshall.

“It’s great; it’s a lot of fun,” Phil Fisher said. “We’ve been doing it for more than ten years now. Everyone seems to enjoy it.”

These honors come as Fisher is set to retire as mayor after 12 years in office.

“I think it was really kind of those who were in charge of this to think of us and give us this goodbye, this farewell,” Phil Fisher said. “I thought that was nice.”

“It was,” Kathy Fisher said. “That was very nice. You know, I’m just kind of in the background. I don’t really like to stand out anyway in the political scene, but it was a really nice gesture to send us in this way.”

Main Street Clinton’s Spring Market followed the parade.
